Midwest YMCA Christian Leadership Conference

The Christian Leadership Conference is an annual training event for YMCA full-time, part-time and seasonal adult staff involved in Day and Resident Camp, as well as any YMCA staff working with children (Child Care, Teens, and others). The Christian Leadership Conference serves to strengthen people in their roles as YMCA leaders. This one-of-a-kind inexpensive event focuses us on the PRACTICAL application of our mission to the daily work that we do. Join us for an exciting weekend of new ideas, shared wisdom, fun, fellowship, free stuff, and inspiring workshops.

During weekend, workshops are conducted on a variety of leadership subjects which may include the YMCA Rag / Leather Program, devotions, storytelling, prayer, discipline, chapel, and how to input the YMCA Character Development Program and Christian emphasis into all YMCA programs. Additional workshops include Group Games and Transitional Activities with a Purpose, Camp Songs and song leading, and a variety of additional programs. A Christian atmosphere is projected without preaching a particular doctrine. Participants work in a variety of settings with trained adult facilitators and YMCA staff. Sharing Christian values and the YMCA Mission in all YMCA programs is emphasized. There is also a heavy emphasis on the fun of summer camp. There are plenty of songs to lead and learn, skits and other camp fun! Since the first Christian Leadership Conference in 1974 the program has grown and includes a number of conferences from coast to coast.

Mother's Day Weekend: May 6 – 8, 2011
The conference begins on Friday evening at 7:30 pm and ends on Sunday morning at 10:30 am.

Fees and Funding

Through the generosity of the C.J., Carrie D. and R. Howard Walker Foundation this experience is available to you and your leaders for $30.00 per person ($35/person the week of the conference). This includes meals, lodging, a t-shirt, resource materials, C in the YMCA devotional book, and a bible.
